WILLEMSTAD - Coming Tuesday, the price for gasoline and diesel in Curaçao will drop sharply. This is normally on the first Tuesday of the new month. Gasoline price drops by more than 36 cents to 1.99 guilders and diesel by just over 43 cents to 1.79 guilders per liter.
The sharp drop in end-user rates for both gasoline and diesel is mainly the result of a sharp drop in purchase prices.
Minister Ruisandro Cijntje previously reported on his Facebook page that the new fuel prices would take effect on January 1, and the price adjustments will also be communicated by the regulator, the Bureau of Telecommunication & Post (BTP).
With the new gasoline price, Curaçao is back to the level of March 2021. Diesel was even cheaper at the beginning of this year with a price of 1.71 per liter at the gas station.
Water and electricity
The price for electricity hardly changes, one-thousandth of a cent behind the decimal point. For the first 250 Kilowatt hours, consumers pay rounded off 70 cents per Kilowatt hour. On the very highest scale, above 350 kilowatt hours, consumers will soon pay 0.86 cents.
Water does go up, at just over eight cents per 1,000 liters. For the first nine cubic meters, consumers pay 9.32 guilders per cubic meter from 1 January.
Anyone who consumes more pays eight cents more per cubic meter for the extra part. Large consumers who get more than twenty cubic meters from the tap, have to pay 18.37 guilders per 1000 liters for that extra part.
