Jason Fullinck withdraws candidacy for ministerial position

WILLEMSTAD - Jason Fullinck has withdrawn his candidacy for Minister of Social Development, Labor, and Welfare in the Pisas II Cabinet. In a statement to the press, Fullinck cited family circumstances as the primary reason for his decision, calling it a difficult but necessary choice.

Nominated by the KEM party, Fullinck expressed frustration with the screening process, describing it as excessive and discouraging. He noted that the process took longer than expected, which he attributed to his political affiliation. According to Fullinck, the level of scrutiny he faced seemed disproportionate to legal requirements.

Additionally, Fullinck revealed that over the past month, his family—particularly his children—might have become targets due to his candidacy. He emphasized that his family’s well-being is his top priority and that he would not put it at risk.

“While I believe I have the ability and desire to serve my country and people, nothing is more important to me than my children and my family. My decision is based on principles and the need to protect them,” Fullinck stated.

Fullinck will continue to serve as chief of staff and remain active within the KEM party. He thanked those who supported him throughout the process and reaffirmed his commitment to contributing to the country in his current role.
