WILLEMSTAD - The government regulator SBTNO has given the green light for the statutory change of the parent company of Aqualectra, Integrated Utility Holding. This development brings Aquatel, the telephony and internet branch of Aqualectra, one step closer. The mission statement had to be adjusted, and a description of what this communication branch will look like was required to provide a clear explanation on paper as to why the parent company also includes Aquatel.
The approval from SBTNO came almost a month ago but has now been made public. The government has long believed that something as vital as telephony and the internet should not solely be in the hands of commercial entities but should also be offered by the government. The exact start date for Aquatel is not yet clear.
