WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao is currently experiencing a rise in respiratory infections, including cases of Covid-19, Influenza A and B, and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). The Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) reports an increase in patients with respiratory issues seeking emergency care. The Ministry of Health, Environment, and Nature (GMN) emphasizes the importance of preventive measures.
Due to the surge, GMN advises regular handwashing, maintaining social distancing, and getting vaccinations against influenza and Covid.
CMC reports some admissions with complications due to respiratory infections and is taking precautions to limit the spread, including separating patients with respiratory symptoms from others.
It is recommended that individuals with symptoms first contact their general practitioner or the General Practitioner Post (HAP), which will arrange hospital referrals if necessary.
The ministry reminds the public to take health seriously and observe precautionary measures. The Covid vaccination schedule will be adjusted starting January 11 to allow all individuals above the age of 60 to receive the vaccination.
For questions or concerns, citizens can contact their general practitioner or the General Practitioner Post at 462-9252.
