THE HAGUE – “The Netherlands is a sick country by wanting to rehabilitate the Curaçao resistance hero Tula,” said the Dutch Member of Parliament Martin Bosma. “We live in a land of moral decay thanks to diversity ideology.”
The PVV MP apparently thought that he had not said enough ugly things about Tula during the parliamentary debate on slavery apologies, so there was a follow-up today. In front of an almost empty room, because only one fellow Member of Parliament thought it was worth listening to Bosma. He held a fifteen-minute argument why not a penny should be spent on the slavery commemoration, an awareness fund and a slavery museum and ended with a motion:
“The Chamber, having heard the deliberation, noting that the Dutch schoolmaster Gerrit Sabel was cruelly humiliated, tortured and murdered by slaves led by Tula during the Curaçao slave revolt; whereas Tula was responsible for this murder; calls on the government not to allow Tula to be part of the commemorative year, and proceeds to business as usual.”
On Tuesday, the House will vote on the motion advised against by Minister of Education, Culture and Science Robbert Dijkgraaf.
