BOGOTÁ – As part of his working visit to Colombia, Minister of Health, Environment and Nature (GMN) Tyron Boekhoudt, accompanied by representatives of the Social Insurance Bank (SVB) and the Curaçao delegation, visited the Centro de Tratamiento e Investigación sobre Cáncer (CTIC), one of the most advanced oncology centers in the region.

During the visit, the delegation received a comprehensive presentation on the organization, its operating model, and the specialized services offered by CTIC. The center is recognized for its patient-centered approach to care, multidisciplinary collaboration, and the use of advanced medical technologies in the treatment of various forms of cancer.

The delegation was informed about how CTIC integrates multiple medical specialties into a single care pathway, beginning with prevention and diagnosis and continuing through treatment, rehabilitation, and follow-up care. Special attention was also given to innovative developments in radiotherapy and oncological surgery.

In addition, the Curaçao delegation toured CTIC’s modern facilities, gaining first-hand insight into its infrastructure, state-of-the-art medical equipment, and the high standards of care provided to patients.

“The developments we have seen here in the areas of oncology care, technology, and multidisciplinary collaboration are impressive,” Minister Boekhoudt said. “They provide valuable knowledge that can help us continue improving healthcare services for patients in Curaçao.”

The visit to CTIC forms part of a series of strategic meetings and site visits in Colombia aimed at exploring opportunities for collaboration, promoting knowledge exchange, and identifying innovative solutions to strengthen and modernize Curaçao’s healthcare system.

According to the Ministry, these efforts are intended to support the development of a more resilient, efficient, and sustainable healthcare sector capable of meeting the island’s future healthcare needs.
