WILLEMSTAD – Starting December 31, new fuel prices will take effect on Curaçao. Both gasoline and diesel prices have dropped compared to last month and the same period a year ago.
The price of gasoline has decreased from 2.09 guilders to 2.04 guilders per liter, a reduction of five cents. Meanwhile, the diesel price has fallen from 1.67 guilders to 1.65 guilders per liter, a decrease of two cents.
Comparison with Last Year
When comparing the prices with January of the previous year, the declines are even more significant. Gasoline was priced at 2.14 guilders per liter at the start of 2024, meaning the price has dropped by ten cents over the past year. Diesel, which cost 1.89 guilders per liter a year ago, has seen a reduction of nearly 25 cents per liter.
Reasons for the Price Drop
The price reductions are attributed to the fall in international oil prices, along with adjustments in the surplus/deficit component. However, despite these reductions, fuel prices continue to fluctuate due to ongoing changes in the global oil market.
