WILLEMSTAD - Former top executive of Caribbean Petroleum Refinery (CPR), Raúl Socorro, denies the accusations against him and the company. Socorro stated in a declaration that he always followed the company's codes of conduct throughout his career.
According to the former executive, many of the documents in question were sent to the company by Bar Trading, a potential investor in the refinery project. CPR reportedly forwarded the documents to Refineria di Korsou (RdK), according to Socorro.
"This does not mean that we falsified the documents in any way," Socorro stated in the declaration. "Furthermore, at CPR, we were the ones who expressed doubts about the authenticity of the documents we received from Bar Trading and immediately removed them as investors," he added.
Socorro expressed disappointment that such unfounded accusations are being spread in the media. "The defamation practices in the media that have published the news have no limits," Socorro said.
Last week, it was announced that several top figures, such as Raúl Socorro and Alejandro Marquez, were no longer part of CPR as a result of accusations of document forgery.
The revelation of the falsification of the reports came at the end of 2022. Immediately afterward, RdK issued a statement acknowledging the forgeries, but there was no evidence that CPR had falsified the documents themselves or that they were involved, according to the official statement at the time.
