Feed-in tariffs renewable electricity generation remains unchanged in 2023

Main news | By Press release December 23, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - Since November 16, 2011, it is possible for individuals and companies in Curaçao to generate electricity for their own use in a sustainable manner, in combination with a grid connection. At the moment, tariffs are applied for the return of electricity to the grid, which consist of a fee of ANG 0.25 per kWh of electricity supplied in combination with a fixed fee of ANG 8.00, ANG 16.00 or ANG 24.00. per installed kWp per month.

The growth of the market for PV installations over the past few years has continued and strengthened in 2022. The most important factor in this is the sharp increase in the regular end-user tariffs for electricity during 2022, with an average investment for an installation with solar panels remaining virtually unchanged. This has a favorable effect on the payback period for end users with their own sustainable electricity production for their own use because of the resulting savings.

Based on the annual evaluation in accordance with the 'Tariff Directive for small-scale sustainable power supply', the Government of Curaçao has therefore decided to leave the above tariffs unchanged. The fixed monthly fees owed to cover the costs for the use and availability of the network, the network connection and the production capacity will be maintained. The rate for electricity supplied back will also be maintained at ANG 0.25 per kWh, as this is reasonably in line with the costs of other sustainably produced electricity as part of the fuel clause.
