WILLEMSTAD - The Governor of Curaçao, Her Excellency Lucille George-Wout, has granted the resignation requests of PNP ministers Ms. R. Larmonie-Cecilia and Mr. O. A. Martina and Mr. R. Cijntje, dated August 21, 2024.
Following this, the Governor received a briefing from Prime Minister Pisas about the political situation that has emerged. It was revealed that Members of Parliament Ms. Z. Jesus-Leito and Mr. L. Martines have formally declared in writing their willingness to support the Pisas II cabinet.
In connection with this, it has been agreed that an addendum will be drafted to the existing coalition agreement, and the two MPs will each nominate a candidate for a ministerial position in the cabinet. These candidates will undergo the usual screening process based on the National Ordinance on Candidate Ministers before they can be appointed by decree.
For the time being, the ministerial portfolios of the departing ministers will be redistributed among the five current MFK ministers, and the replacement schedule has been adjusted until the new candidate ministers are nominated and appointed.
