WILLEMSTAD - Justice Minister Shalten Hato (MFK) believes that the election regulations in Curaçao need to be reviewed. Without changes, it will not be possible to establish additional polling stations or districts.
MAN party leader Giselle Mc William has called for the digitization of the voting process in Curaçao. During a parliamentary meeting, she proposed creating an online platform where voters could receive their voting cards as QR codes, eliminating the reliance on postal services.
Mc William also advocated for mobile ballot boxes and more flexible voting procedures, allowing citizens to vote at various locations, such as hospitals and care homes.
In response to questions from MFK parliamentarian Juniël Carolina and Mc William, Hato stated that current election regulations do not permit the expansion of polling locations or the introduction of mobile voting stations.
