Curaçao promotes innovation: new business campus by Curinde and Blue Harbour City for startups and scale-ups

Main news | By Press release February 17, 2025

WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao is taking a significant step in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship with the launch of Blue Harbour City Curaçao, a new business campus for startups and scale-ups. This initiative, developed in collaboration with Curinde, offers a dynamic and flexible workspace where emerging companies can grow, innovate, and expand internationally.

The agreement between the two organizations was signed by Ms. Jacqueline Jansen, Director of Curinde, and Ms. Signalda Vrutaal, Director of Blue Harbour City. The signing took place in the presence of the Minister of Economic Development of Curaçao ing. Charles Cooper.

This initiative aligns fully with the Ministry of Economic Development’s (MEO) SME policy.

With the rise of sectors such as FinTech, AgroTech, GovTech, the circular economy, and sustainable logistics, Blue Harbour City addresses the growing need for an innovative business hub. Partnering with Curinde, a well-established name in managing free zones and industrial areas, provides a strategic boost to position Curaçao as a regional hub for innovation.

An Ecosystem for Growth and Innovation

"By joining forces, we are creating an environment where innovative entrepreneurs have the space and resources to grow their businesses," says Signalda Vrutaal, Co-founder and Managing Director of Blue Harbour City Curaçao.
"We offer not only physical workspaces but also access to a broad network of investors, mentors, and business partners."

Blue Harbour City Curaçao offers a wide range of facilities, including:

Flexible workspaces, studios, and meeting rooms designed for innovative businesses.

Access to networking events and mentorship programs to support business growth.

An innovative business campus that fosters an international and modern working environment.

Financing and Support for Entrepreneurs: Monthly Funding Roundtable

One of the biggest challenges for startups and scale-ups is securing funding. That is why Blue Harbour City organizes the Funding Roundtable every month—an interactive event where entrepreneurs can connect directly with investors and financiers.
"Many entrepreneurs struggle to secure capital because traditional financing routes are not always accessible or suitable," says Ms. Vrutaal.
"With the Funding Roundtable, we connect them directly with the right partners and help them sharpen their business cases."

During these sessions, entrepreneurs not only have the opportunity to attract funding but also gain valuable insights into what investors truly look for in a business.

Curaçao as a Regional Innovation Hub

With the launch of Blue Harbour City Curaçao, Curinde and Blue Harbour City are taking a major step toward building a sustainable and resilient entrepreneurial ecosystem.

"Entrepreneurship and innovation are crucial for Curaçao's economic growth. By investing in this business campus, we strengthen the investment climate and position the island as an attractive hub for innovative companies in the region," says Ms. Vrutaal.
