WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Police Force is introducing a new pre-clearance service designed to speed up departure procedures for travelers leaving the island with minors during the busy summer vacation season.
Starting Thursday, July 9, 2026, parents and legal guardians will be able to have their travel documents reviewed in advance through a free "Pre-Clearance" service offered by the Immigration Department.
The initiative aims to improve customer service while making the departure process at Curaçao International Airport more efficient.
During the pre-clearance appointment, immigration officers will verify whether all required documentation for traveling with a minor is complete. Once approved, the documents will receive an official verification, indicating they have already been checked by Immigration.
On the day of travel, passengers will only need to present the pre-approved documents at the airport's immigration checkpoint, allowing the verification process to proceed more quickly.
Travelers wishing to use the service are asked to bring all applicable documentation, including:
- Valid travel documents;
- The "Traveling with a Minor" form (if applicable);
- A marriage certificate or an extended birth registry extract;
- A travel authorization letter (if applicable);
- Custody or guardianship documentation (if applicable);
- Any additional documents listed in the official "Traveling with a Minor" information brochure.
The Police Force encourages parents and guardians to take advantage of the free service well before their departure date. Doing so will allow sufficient time to obtain or correct any missing or incomplete documents identified during the pre-clearance process.
The service will be available at the Curaçao Police headquarters on Winston Churchillweg during the summer holiday period.
Office hours are:
- Monday through Thursday: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- Friday: 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The Curaçao Police said the initiative is intended to help families begin their trips in a safe, secure and stress-free manner while ensuring all legal requirements for traveling with minors are met before arriving at the airport.
