WILLEMSTAD - Minister of General Affairs, Gilmar Pisas, who is responsible for crisis and risk management that may affect our country, recently met with government experts in a "task force." The purpose of this task force meeting was to gain an overview of the current situation in Venezuela following the presidential election on July 28. After the presidential election, tensions arose, leading to various protests and multiple arrests in Venezuela. Due to the potential impact that the current situation in Venezuela may have on Curaçao, it has been decided to closely monitor the situation to anticipate possible scenarios and take action if necessary to protect the interests of our country.

The task force advising the minister is responsible for monitoring situations that may pose risks to Curaçao in specific areas and identifying possible consequences. Based on analyses and potential threats, including the impact that the situation in Venezuela may have, the task force determines and recommends the most effective strategies to address these threats and mitigate their effects on Curaçao as much as possible. The task force comprises various government experts, including representatives from the Police Corps of Curaçao (KPC), Foreign Affairs, GMN, AZ, members of the Crisis Staff, Coast Guard, Defense, and others.

The National Coordinator for Crisis and Disaster Management is responsible for coordinating the task force on behalf of the Minister of General Affairs. The task force will continue to monitor the situation in Venezuela and work together to protect the interests of Curaçao.
