WILLEMSTAD – Minister of Finance Charles Cooper has announced that the Curaçao government plans to introduce a new entry tax for travelers arriving on the island, a measure expected to generate approximately 90 million Caribbean guilders (XCG) in government revenue.
According to the minister, the new levy will be charged to individuals entering Curaçao. Cooper said additional details about the proposed tax, including how it will be implemented and who will be required to pay it, will be released in the near future.
The government has not yet disclosed the proposed amount of the entry tax, whether exemptions will apply to certain categories of travelers, or the anticipated implementation date.
If introduced, the measure would represent a significant new source of revenue for the government, with projected annual proceeds of around XCG 90 million.
