Curaçao Gaming Control Board issues new certification for license applicants

Main news | By Correspondent October 29, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - The Gaming Control Board of Curaçao has announced the availability of two versions of the Orange Seal for gambling companies that have submitted licensing applications. This initiative is aimed at ensuring that sublicense holders can continue their operations while their applications are being processed.

According to Aideen Shortt, a consultant with the Gaming Control Board, the new digital certification system will provide an operational framework for online casinos previously operating under a sublicense from one of the master license holders in Curaçao.

Certificate of Operation

Sublicense holders who submitted their new licensing applications before April 30, 2024, will receive a 'Certificate of Operation.' This certificate allows these companies to offer online gambling services in compliance with licensing conditions. It can be displayed on all domains listed in their new application, with the option to add additional domains later via the Gaming Control Board's portal.

Under Application Certificate

For sublicense holders submitting their applications after April 30, 2024, the process is slightly different. They will initially receive an 'Under Application Certificate,' which indicates that their application is in progress. To obtain the necessary Orange Seal for continued operations, these companies can contact the Gaming Control Board directly.

New gambling providers who have not previously operated under a sublicense will not be eligible for a Certificate of Operation until their application is fully approved. Instead, they will receive an Under Application Certificate and must wait for the green light before commencing any online gambling activities.

This new certification system is part of the Gaming Control Board's ongoing efforts to streamline the licensing process and enhance regulatory compliance within the gaming industry on the island.
