Curaçao Complies with EU Tax Standards

Main news | By Correspondent February 19, 2025

WILLEMSTAD – The European Union has removed Curaçao from its monitoring list for tax jurisdictions, known as Annex II. This means the island is now fully compliant with international tax standards and is no longer under increased scrutiny by the EU.

Annex II, also referred to as the "grey list," includes countries that have not yet fully met EU requirements but have committed to improving their tax policies. Curaçao was previously on this list but has implemented sufficient reforms to be removed.

The EU also updated its list of non-cooperative tax jurisdictions, known as Annex I, which still includes eleven countries, such as Panama and Russia. Countries on this list are considered tax havens due to their lack of cooperation with international fiscal transparency efforts.

Curaçao’s removal from Annex II signifies that no further reforms are required to meet EU tax standards. However, the EU continues to monitor global tax practices, and the status of jurisdictions may be reassessed in future reviews.
