WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP), in collaboration with Curaçao Airport Holding (CAH), has officially launched the Outbound Terminal Mid-Expansion Project at Curaçao International Airport as passenger growth at the airport continues to exceed expectations.

The project, which is expected to continue through December 2026, focuses entirely on improving outbound operations for departing passengers and forms part of the airport’s broader long-term modernization strategy.

According to CAP, Curaçao International Airport has experienced sustained and record-breaking passenger growth in recent years, creating the need for additional investment in infrastructure, passenger flow management, and operational efficiency.

The expansion project will introduce improvements to several key departure areas, including boarding pass control, outbound immigration, security screening, and transit operations.

Passengers will gradually see enhancements such as expanded outbound terminal space, additional boarding pass barcode readers, wider accessibility units for wheelchair users and travelers requiring extra assistance, preparations for future e-Gate expansion by the Ministry of Justice, more immigration booths, an additional security screening lane, and a dedicated VIP fast-track lane.

The project will also improve transit routes for connecting passengers while maintaining current transit procedures during construction.

Ricardo Hernández, CEO of CAP, described the expansion as a strategic investment in the future of the airport.

“This mid-expansion project reflects our continued commitment to investing in the future of CUR and continuously enhancing the passenger experience,” Hernández said.

Wilhelmus Ignacio, Managing Director of CAH, stated that the project demonstrates the long-term collaboration between the airport operator and airport owner to strengthen Curaçao’s connectivity, tourism sector, and economic growth.

Construction activities will begin with partial fencing installations along sections of the Commercial Boulevard between May 18 and May 22. Airport authorities stated that all works will be phased carefully to minimize disruption to passengers and visitors.
