WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP), in collaboration with Curaçaose Wegenbouw Maatschappij (CWM), one of its esteemed shareholders, marked an important milestone today with the groundbreaking for the new tour bus stop at CUR | Curaçao International Airport. This development is a key part of CAP’s ongoing efforts to enhance the airport’s infrastructure and improve the overall passenger experience, as well as part of a broader initiative to redesign and upgrade its parking facilities.

The project comes in response to the unexpected surge in passenger numbers over the past year, which exceeded all initial forecasts. This rapid growth led to increased curbside congestion due to the rising number of tour buses. In an effort to tackle these challenges and prepare for continued growth, CAP's own team has redesigned the parking areas, and in partnership with CWM, is creating a designated tour bus stop within the parking lot. This new area will help streamline traffic flow and enhance the overall passenger experience.
CEO of CAP, Jonny Andersen, highlighted the importance of the project in his remarks:
“Our airport has experienced incredible growth in recent months, and with that growth has come the need for strategic infrastructure improvements. The new tour bus stop is one of the many steps we are taking to enhance the passenger experience, especially as we prepare for the peak season later this year. This project is a testament to how important partnerships like the one we have with CWM are. When we come together and believe in each other’s capabilities, we can achieve even greater things for our airport and for Curaçao as a whole. We’re proud to work alongside CWM on this initiative, which is crucial to ensuring Curaçao International Airport remains a welcoming and efficient gateway for our island.”
The construction of the tour bus stop is expected to be completed by December 2024, in time for the busy travel season. The project will help streamline traffic flow, reduce congestion, and improve the overall experience for passengers, tour bus operators, and visitors to the island.
Today’s groundbreaking also featured the unveiling of CWM’s brand-new frees machine, a state-of-the-art piece of equipment which will play an essential role in the successful execution of the project.
CEO of CWM, Pierre Montesant, expressed his pride in introducing the innovative equipment: "Innovation and durability are at the heart of our mission, and today, we are proud to present our newest addition—a state-of-the-art, sustainable milling machine. Not only is this machine powerful and efficient, but it is also eco-friendly, featuring low emissions and energy-efficient operation that help minimize our ecological footprint. Its design is especially close to our hearts, as it celebrates the beauty of Curaçao, showcasing images that reflect the vibrant culture and natural wonders of our island. Every time this machine goes to work, it will remind us of our pride and dedication to investing in Curaçao’s future. We deeply value our collaboration with Curaçao Airport Partners and look forward to continuing to build a better Curaçao together.”
CAP extends its gratitude to all stakeholders, tour bus operators, and the wider airport community for their patience and support as the airport continues to enhance its facilities to meet the growing demands of Curaçao’s tourism sector.
