WILLEMSTAD - The four RDK (Curaçao Refinery) employees, Roderick van Kwartel, Igor Cijntje, Michael Kinburn, and Ashley Isidora, reported to the gate of the Curaçao Detention and Correction Center, SDKK, yesterday. The four men were convicted on appeal, and their conviction was upheld in cassation, making their sentence final.

Roderick van Kwartel (photo) has to serve three years in prison for passive bribery. The cassation appeal of the other three suspects, former technical manager Gilbert Gregory Cijntje, mechanical inspector Michèle Mario Kinburn, and external consultant Ashley Isidora, was also rejected at the time. They each received a thirty-month prison sentence on appeal.

Van Kwartel was the former director of Refineria di Kòrsou and was appointed to find a strategic partner to operate the refinery and Bullebaai. He accepted millions in bribes during the official tendering process.
