THE HAGUE - The Caribbean Reform and Development Agency, or the so-called COHO keeps disappearing behind the horizon. This can be deduced from the cabinet's response to the report of the Interparliamentary Kingdom Consultation that State Secretary Van Huffelen sent to the Dutch House of Representatives today.
The minister reports that it was "unfortunately unsuccessful" to hold the administrative consultation between her and the prime ministers – as announced earlier – before the turn of the year. This means another postponement for the response of the Kingdom Council of Ministers to the criticism of the four parliaments on the draft version of the COHO consensus law. The response of the Dutch government to the (secret) alternative that Curaçao, Aruba and Sint Maarten have for the COHO law will also be delayed due to the postponement.
In the letter, Van Huffelen discusses, among other things, the democratic deficit in the Kingdom, the establishment of consensus kingdom laws, colonialism and the history of slavery and the sargassum problem.
