WILLEMSTAD – The Committee for Financial Supervision Curaçao and Sint Maarten (Cft) says Curaçao has not yet sufficiently addressed its recommendations regarding the 2026 national budget.
In a letter dated March 4, 2026, the Cft stated that the government’s response to earlier advice does not adequately resolve several financial concerns. As a result, the supervisory board says its earlier assessment of the 2026 budget remains unchanged.
The board had previously advised Curaçao on January 23 to make several adjustments to ensure that the budget complies with the requirements of the Kingdom’s financial supervision law.
According to the Cft, the government has still not provided clear numerical insight into the financial consequences of the recent increase in AOV pension payments. In addition, uncertainty remains about the financial impact of the ongoing situation at the Curaçao Medical Center.
The Cft has asked the government to respond again by March 11 and to submit a formal budget amendment by May 15 together with the first quarterly execution report of 2026.
