Cft advises Curaçao to cut expenses

Main news | By Correspondent October 9, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao must cut spending on goods and services to prevent the country from falling into a structural deficit.

This warning comes from the Committee of Financial Supervision (Cft): "The Cft expresses its strong concern about the rising costs of goods and services. Given the significant impact that the refinancing of liquidity support loans and the ENNIA solution will have on the budget, it is of great importance that Curaçao reduces the costs of goods and services structurally."

From the Cft's letter, it can be inferred that the Pisas Cabinet is paying little attention to the committee's recommendations. Although Finance Minister Silvania is very satisfied with his own performance, the budget he has prepared for 2024 is facing significant issues.
