WILLEMSTAD – The General Pension Fund of Curaçao (APC) has announced a 0.7 percent indexation of pensions, as published in the Landscourant on December 13, 2024. The adjustment takes effect retroactively from January 1, 2024, following conditions such as a coverage ratio of at least 105 percent at the end of 2023.
Most pensioners will receive the indexation along with their January 2025 pension payments. This increase, applied retroactively, will be noted on pension statements as “arrears in pension or cost-of-living compensation for previous years.”
Two groups, however, are excluded or face delays: individuals who stopped working for the government after January 1, 2019, and retirees from the private sector who had no pension contributions in 2024. APC will provide these groups with direct communication regarding their status.
The APC clarified that the indexation is separate from other allowances. Pensioners will receive additional details about the payment process and procedures in a formal letter.
