ADC resumes laboratory services for CMC after agreement reached

Main news | By Correspondent July 4, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - The Analytical Diagnostic Center (ADC) will once again provide laboratory services to the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC), according to Inspector General Sirving Keli.

Following discussions on Monday morning, the Inspector General brokered an agreement between ADC and CMC. "CMC has committed to paying off a portion of its outstanding debts," stated Keli.

The hospital has confirmed that ADC has accepted a proposal put forth by CMC a few weeks ago. As a result, the hospital will make partial repayments towards its 700,000 guilders debt.

The news of ADC's decision to limit services for CMC surfaced on Monday morning when an email from ADC Director Liane Virginia-Cova to the top authority at CMC was leaked.

ADC has asserted that it delivers more services to the hospital than it receives compensation for. Additionally, CMC owes a substantial sum of 14 million guilders to ADC. The laboratory's management emphasized that the situation had become critical, necessitating adjustments to their services.

The timeline for the payment of the remaining debts remains unclear at this time.

When approached for confirmation, an ADC spokesperson declined and offered a contrasting statement. "ADC is currently engaged in negotiations and can only provide confirmation once an agreement has been reached."
