WILLEMSTAD – 2BAYS is pleased to announce that it has submitted applications for permits to operate at the Emmastad refinery and the terminal in Bullenbaai. This is part of the company’s future plans and serves as a replacement for the existing permit, which expires on January 1. The application also includes the implementation of environmental measures. The applications for both locations comply with the Environmental Permitting Policy (EPP) prescribed by the Ministry of Health, Environment, and Nature (GMN), which follows European and Dutch environmental legislation standards.
With this move, 2BAYS takes an important step not only for the environment but also for economic activities vital to Curaçao’s growth.
The applications are currently being reviewed by GMN’s implementation service. GMN is responsible for granting the permits and setting the conditions attached to them. It is expected that the draft permit will be published in March or April, and made available for public review. There will be an opportunity to submit objections. However, both 2BAYS and GMN are eager to engage in discussions with stakeholders to ensure the permit’s approval process moves smoothly.
To facilitate this, a public meeting will be held in the week of January 20, where 2BAYS will explain the permit application and answer any questions. GMN will also provide an overview of the next steps in the permitting process.
Through these plans, 2BAYS aims to make a significant contribution to employment and a sustainable future for Curaçao.
