There is still hope for local aviation company InselAir

WILLEMSTAD - After a few weeks of uncertainty and no hopes for the future of the local airline InselAir, yesterday there was suddenly a small light at the end of a very dark tunnel. There is a new interested party in taking over the operations of the airline and pay the current employees.

It is not yet known exactly which party is interested in taking over the InselAir’s creditors' agreement, but the new candidate has appeared yesterday in court and the judge agreed to the proposal that is on the table right now. This was declared by the superintendent Rogier van den Heuvel.

The court gave the parties until Thursday to work out the deals but according to Van den Heuvel it is certain that this new party will take over.

"It is a partnership between Tilgent Capital Trust and a natural person from Trinidad", is the only thing that Van den Heuvel wants to say about it at this stage. Tilgent Capital Trust is headquartered in Clearwater in the US state of Florida.

According to Van den Heuvel, this party is aware of the requirements and remains within the agreement made with former interested party interCaribbean.

If the alternative candidate can meet all conditions with certainty, this will immediately replace interCaribbean, which - in the opinion of the examining magistrate - has not been able to prove that they can take over InselAir.

What the partnership between Tilgent Capital Trust and a businessman from Trinidad takes over is the permit to fly, the Air Operator's Certificate (AOC), and the corresponding rights and destinations of InselAir. In the existing credit agreement, the buyer pays 1 dollar for the shares and just over 11 million dollars, spread out over nine years, to partially pay the creditors.
