Government announces that schools will open physically again from 1 June 2020

WILLEMSTAD - As of June 1, 2020, all schools that are approved by the Hygiene Brigade will reopen. Schools will send the students and their parents the relevant program and timetable. Under COVID-19 rules, schools are responsible for their hygiene protocol and must adhere to the guidelines.

In recent weeks, the school boards, schools, and teachers have made the necessary preparations to resume education in a responsible manner. The government has also aided in this by giving additional funds to cover added costs related to hygiene and maintenance. For this, not only the school boards and schools, but also the bus drivers have received several guidelines in the context of the 'new normal' for education and they have also taken part in information sessions. Education at these schools can be resumed as soon as the necessary cleaning and personal hygiene measures have been taken and approval has been given by the Hygiene Brigade. In some cases it involves a phased resumption of school education. The program and schedule are communicated by the individual schools with parents and students.

In summary, it is informed that from 1 June 2020:

Schools for elementary education can get to work;

Schools for Labor-oriented Education (AGO) can start physically with an adapted program.

Education at independent schools for basic education VSBO can start on location.

The education of the non-exam classes in secondary schools (VO) can start based on the planning of the individual schools on location, taking into account the capacity of the schools to receive the number of students and;

The education of students who are not in the final year of secondary vocational education (SBO) can start based on the planning of the individual training institutes on location, taking into account the capacity of the institute to receive the number of students;
