Expert group is looking at ways to improve flight connections between the islands and make them more affordable

THE HAGUE - The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management will publish the results of the exploration in the short term of the possibilities for improving the flight connections between Bonaire and Curacao and between the Windward Islands and at the same time making them more affordable.

A connectivity expert group is working under the direction of LenW. "The ministry expects to be able to present the results after summer. These will elaborate on the current situation (frequency, price and structural assurance), the public and private options to improve connections and the question of which role governments can play in this,” writes Undersecretary for Kingdom Relations Raymond Knops to the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament.

Earlier this year, at the request of LenW, the Economic Research Foundation (SEO) conducted the "Connectivity Caribbean part of the Kingdom" survey.

“The SEO research and the follow-up process have been explained by LenW to the Caribbean Netherlands steering group. Through this body, the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations and other interested departments also remain connected. In addition, the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, the countries and the public bodies are involved in the topic through meetings of the expert group," said Knops.
