Curaçao Sees Surge in Cruise Arrivals with Over 85,000 Visitors in Two Weeks

WILLEMSTAD – The island is experiencing a booming period in the cruise sector, welcoming thousands of passengers daily. Over the next two weeks, 30 cruise ships are set to dock in Curaçao, bringing in a total of more than 85,000 visitors. 

A Packed Cruise Schedule 

This week alone, 17 cruise ships will bring an estimated 50,000 passengers, while next week, 13 additional ships will carry another 35,000 visitors to the island. 

The week started with the arrival of P&O Cruises’ Britannia on Monday, carrying 4,324 passengers. On Tuesday, three major cruise ships—Costa Fortuna (2,724 passengers), Adventure of the Seas (3,729), and Grandeur of the Seas (2,054)—docked in Willemstad. 

Today, Celebrity Equinox is in port with 3,480 passengers, followed by Carnival Horizon arriving on Thursday with 4,716 visitors. On Friday, Norwegian Encore will bring 3,998 passengers, while Marella Discovery arrives Saturday with 1,830 visitors. Sunday, March 16, will see a triple arrival: Carnival Horizon (4,716 passengers), Celebrity Reflection (3,046), and Grandeur of the Seas (2,054). 

Another Wave Next Week 

The following week kicks off with Britannia’s return on Monday, March 17, bringing another 4,324 passengers. On Tuesday, Costa Fortuna (2,724 passengers) arrives, followed by Celebrity Equinox (3,480) on Wednesday. Thursday sees the arrival of Carnival Horizon (4,716 passengers), and Norwegian Encore returns on Friday with 3,998 visitors. Marella Discovery (1,830 passengers) will dock on Saturday, while Carnival Horizon makes its third appearance of the month on Sunday, March 23, carrying another 4,716 passengers. 

Boosting Tourism and the Local Economy 

With an average of two to three cruise ships per day, the cruise industry continues to play a significant role in Curaçao’s tourism sector, injecting revenue into local businesses, restaurants, and attractions. The influx of visitors highlights Curaçao’s growing popularity as a prime cruise destination in the Caribbean.
