Curaçao proudly hosted an important regional aviation conference

2019 CAPA Latin America Aviation & LCCs Summit Curaçao      

WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao Airport Partners looks back at a successful 3rd annual CAPA Latin America Aviation & LCCs Summit at Santa Barbara Beach Resort on September 16 and 17. A diverse range of carriers were present in Curaçao, including among others executives from GOL, Azul, American, Copa and United Airlines. The summit focused on the state of the aviation industry in Latin America and the Caribbean. With the completed Curaçao International Airport expansion project in December 2018, CAP carefully sourced the appropriate conference that would enable the aviation industry to experience not only the new airport facilities but Curaçao as a destination as well.

CAPA’s events attract the highest caliber of thought-leaders in the industry and the last few days were no exception in Curaçao.

Approximately 100 Latin American and Caribbean executives, suppliers, representatives of airports, destinations and the wider travel industry were present at the conference.  After the welcome speeches of John Thomas, Senior Advisor CAPA and Peggy Croes, Director of Air Service Development at Curaçao Airport Partners, Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath delivered a keynote address on Curaçao, its potential and the importance of air service to the destination. 

This conference focused on the state of the aviation industry, both legacy and LLC carriers and the LCC market in Latin America and the Caribbean. The aviation industry is very volatile and constantly evolves.

Various airport executives, along with tourism, travel and industry partners such as ALTA, and IATA shared their insights during various panel discussions moderated by industry experts. The interesting panel discussions included the gathering of ideas in Air Service Development; Distribution and digital transformation; The role of Air Service Partnerships, what drives travel and tourism demand and Driving Connectivity within the Caribbean.

Besides the tight two – day summit agenda, Curaçao Airport Partners also hosted a welcome reception on the beach of Santa Barbara Resort sponsored by APort and a unique dinner celebration in our city center sponsored by the Curaçao Airport Holding, showcasing a taste of Curaçao.
