COVID-19 Update: “New corona infections on Curaçao and Sint Maarten”

WILLEMSTAD - A new corona infection was confirmed on both Curaçao and Sint Maarten on Wednesday. The islands had hardly any infections for weeks, but with the opening of the borders on July 1, the risk of corona has increased.

On Bonaire, there were positive results for the first time in three months on Tuesday. It concerns two people from the same family who have been in Peru. A third family member was tested positive on Wednesday. The family is in a mandatory quarantine location.

A new infection was also registered on Aruba on Tuesday, where four cases have now been reported. All patients on the islands are quarantined.

The new case in Curaçao is an officer of the Forward Operation Location (FOL) who recently arrived on the island. The FOL followed all protocol as is requested by the government for active duty. This means that the officer who tested positive was already under strict mandatory quarantine on arrival.
