WILLEMSTAD - The house arrest of the former Director of the Giro Bank, Eric Garcia's ends January 30. Garcia was sentenced to four years in prison for his involvement in the embezzlement of 11 million dollars from the bankruptcy process of former Banco Maracaibo. But this was turned into house arrest for his poor health.
Garcia may have three extra years to serve in prison if he cannot produce the 11 million dollars he embezzled.
On the 30th, the court looks again at Garcia's health and then decides on the continuation of his house arrest.
