WILLEMSTAD - The current corona measures will be extended by three weeks. Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas announced this during a press conference on Thursday.
Three weeks ago, the curfew was imposed from 12 a.m. to 4:30 a.m., and no more than 100 people were allowed to gather. These measures will be extended until September 24. Also, there is still no dancing and no loud music played. The measures apply to both private and public activities. “There is not enough progress to lift the measures,” Pisas said.
Carnival 2022 is postponed. This was announced by Minister Van Heydoorn of Culture, based on advice from the crisis team. According to the government, the event is a major spreader of the coronavirus.
The celebration of Sinterklaas is also cancelled. No permit is issued for the traditional entry in Willemstad.
Premier Pisas announced that the emergency law will be extended for another 90 days.
