Breaking: Government crisis in Aruba; Prime Minister resigns

ORANJESTAD - Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes has tendered the resignation of her cabinet to the governor. The reason is the suspicion against coalition party POR of embezzling public money.

Earlier today it was announced that the Public Prosecution Service had seized bank accounts of a foundation affiliated with the POR party. The leader of the party, minister of Justice Andin Bikker distanced himself from the POR in writing. The party was already discredited last year because of suspicions against another minister.

Elections in Aruba are scheduled for September 24. It is not known yet whether these would be held earlier or not.
