WILLEMSTAD – Travelers arriving at Curaçao International Airport will now encounter a renovated immigration area as the Ministry of Justice continues efforts to modernize and professionalize border-control services.
Justice Minister Shalten Hato officially inaugurated the newly renovated immigration counters on September 1. According to the ministry, the improvements are intended to create a more professional and welcoming environment for passengers arriving from abroad.
The ministry emphasized that immigration officers are often among the first local representatives visitors encounter after landing in Curaçao. Their working environment and the appearance of the immigration area therefore play an important role in the first impression travelers receive of the island.
While immigration controls are a necessary security procedure at airports worldwide, the ministry said the experience should go beyond simply processing passengers correctly. The way travelers are received and treated during the process is also important, particularly for an island that welcomes large numbers of international visitors each year.
The redesigned counters are intended to make better use of the available space while providing a more pleasant environment for both passengers and immigration personnel.
According to the ministry, improving the physical infrastructure also recognizes the work performed by immigration officers, who deal with arriving passengers every day while carrying out border-control and security responsibilities.
The renovation forms part of a broader strategy by the Ministry of Justice to combine security and efficiency with better service at Curaçao International Airport.
Additional investments are planned as the government continues modernizing immigration operations.
