WILLEMSTAD - A new Cambridge Exam Center has been established in Curaçao to exclusively provide Cambridge English examinations across the Dutch Caribbean. Zwiers Language Curaçao operates as a sub-center of Zwiers Language & Exam Centre, one of the largest Cambridge examination providers in West Europe. Based in the Netherlands and Belgium, Zwiers has been offering Cambridge exams in Curaçao since 2021, in Bonaire since 2023, and will begin administering its first sessions in Aruba in 2026. The center in Curaçao will operate under the name Zwiers Language Curaçao, under Cambridge exam number AN005.
Zwiers Language began operating in Curaçao after the pandemic, when the previous examination centers used by local schools ceased operations. The organization's goal was to deliver the same internationally recognized exams and high standards of service offered to Dutch and Belgian candidates—at the same price.
Before Zwiers’ arrival, exam centers operating in the Dutch Caribbean often passed on travel and accommodation expenses to candidates, making the exams prohibitively expensive for many. Zwiers has changed that by ensuring affordable access to these qualifications. In addition, the centre has actively supported local teachers and schools by providing free speaking examiner training, books, IT equipment, and access to Cambridge teaching resources.
Ronald Zwiers, Director of the company states, “Zwiers Language & Exam Centre is proud to announce the opening of a new Cambridge sub-center in Curaçao. This is the first Cambridge centre ever, which is actually located in the Dutch Caribbean. This center will offer endless possibilities for our worldwide-recognized Cambridge exams in Curaçao, Aruba and Bonaire. This will reinforce our collaboration with the local schools and institutions and is the beginning of a long-lasting relationship with the region. We are pleased to collaborate with Úna Jansen as our ‘boots on the ground’ in the region”.
The establishment of a dedicated exam center in Curaçao marks a major step forward, making the administration of exams more efficient and offering schools greater flexibility in scheduling and participation. Currently, Cambridge examinations are offered to students from Albert Schweitzer College, Marnix College, SKAIH Preuniversitario, Vespucci College, and Radulphus College. School boards also use these exams to verify the English proficiency of teachers delivering bilingual (TTO) education according to the Nuffic norms.
Every year, more than five million Cambridge English exams are taken in 130 countries, and over 25,000 universities, employers, and government institutions worldwide recognize Cambridge English qualifications as trusted proof of English language ability.
The next Cambridge Exams in Curaçao will take place on Saturday, November 1st, at ICUC. Registrations for this session have now closed, but the next opportunity to register will be in March 2026.
From March 2026 onwards, individual candidates can also register themselves directly on our brand-new website: www.zwierslanguagetraining.cw
