WILLEMSTAD - De Zr.Ms. Groningen has intercepted various drug transports in the last three weeks. This brings the total number of drug seizures to thirteen.
On August 19, a team of the American Coast Guard and the crew of the Zr.Ms. Groningen intercepted a motor boat with four on board. In addition to the naval ship, a Dash-8 maritime patrol aircraft of the Coast Guard Caribbean was also involved in this interception. The team found 600 kilos of cocaine on board the Go-Fast.
The following interceptions took place shortly thereafter. On August 30, 1, and 3 September, three Go-Fasts were stopped, with a total of 4,200 kilos of drugs and ten suspects arrested.
The fourteen suspects have been transferred to the American Coast Guard for further persecution. The drugs have been destroyed. With these four drug seizures, the counter of the Navy ship is 15,000 kilos of intercepted drugs.
