WILLEMSTAD - Independent Member of Parliament Zita Jesus-Leito has urged the Prime Minister and Parliament, in a letter, to strategically invest the additional tax revenue of 2024 into structural projects. According to Jesus-Leito, this financial windfall presents a unique opportunity to strengthen the economy and secure a sustainable future for Curaçao.
In her letter, she outlines seven concrete projects, ranging from the digitalization of education and government to investments in an independent subsea cable and green energy. These projects represent an investment of approximately 275 million guilders, which accounts for only 15% of the additional revenue for 2024.
Jesus-Leito stresses that prudent management of these funds is essential to avoid repeating past mistakes and to build a stronger, more diverse Curaçao.
