WILLEMSTAD - Starting today, March 20, Curaçao has a zero-tolerance policy to enforce social distancing. Other government measures to prevent infection with the coronavirus will also be penalized if not followed.
The Public Prosecution Service announced this.
The basis for this sanction policy is the ministerial decision of March 16, in which Curaçao was declared a disaster area.
Those who do not want to pay their fine will be summoned to court and there they will probably receive a higher amount.
The Public Prosecution emphasizes that the current special circumstances lead to adapted sanctions and points out to the population the need to follow rules issued by the government such as “social distancing”.
