WILLEMSTAD - Owner Bert Evers is unhappy about the inspection that took place at his establishment in Jan Thiel, Zanzibar by the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Economic Development. The ministry came in with twenty people during happy hour on Saturday, two weeks ago.
That was bullying and showing power, says Evers. The inspection was canceled due to the crowds, but the Inspectorate returned last Wednesday.
Nothing was found, because everything was fine. Economy minister Giselle McWilliam has reacted with astonishment to the statements made by Evers.
According to minister, the owner stated that he will not tolerate inspections by her Ministry and the Ministry of Health. Zanzibar was inspected last weekend and later it was checked whether the bar restaurant had implemented the promised changes.
If the owner thinks he is above the law, he is wrong, said the minister. She indicated that the inspectors will continue their work and will not allow themselves to be threatened or intimidated.
