Yudaboyu opens new crisis unit for adolescents

Local | By Correspondent November 1, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - Responding to the rising demand for adolescent psychiatric care in Curaçao, the child and adolescent psychiatry center Yudaboyu is set to open a new crisis unit on November 1. This specialized unit, equipped with four beds, will offer a safe environment for adolescents in need of intensive clinical care. According to the organization, there has been a longstanding shortage of facilities for youth between 10 and 20 years old facing severe psychiatric conditions.

Yudaboyu has designed the crisis unit to provide a supportive and nurturing setting where young people can receive vital treatment and assistance during critical periods. While the center primarily focuses on outpatient care, offering appointments and guidance for youth, in some cases, inpatient treatment becomes essential, necessitating temporary stays for effective intervention.
