WILLEMSTAD - The youth parade of the Curaçao Carnival drew thousands of spectators along the roadside. According to onlookers, the groups looked beautiful and very colorful. Creativity played a significant role, although there were groups that, if they had started preparing earlier, could have created something amazing for the children.
The chairman of organizer AGKK, Sandy Atimadora, expressed great satisfaction after the parade. "The Youth Parade was very successful, and I am very pleased. It was very colorful and atmospheric."
Atimadora emphasized that the groups and DJs should play more tumba music. "Keep the sound low. Many DJs are too loud. Less 'roadfire' music along the road and songs that are not suitable for the Youth Parade."
Arrests
The police made several arrests during the children's parade. At the end of the parade, a man was arrested for possessing drugs.
As the police stated in their campaign: 'If you misbehave, you will feel it.' Near Samira, a man on a scooter was stopped for inspection. It turned out that the vehicle he was riding had no documentation whatsoever. The driver was taken in, and the scooter was confiscated.
Further down Ojedastraat, the police stopped another scooter rider for inspection, and here they found drugs. The driver was taken into custody and the scooter was confiscated.
