WILLEMSTAD – The Dutch Caribbean Baseball Academy (DCBA) has announced the start of a new training cycle for Curaçao’s young baseball players and is inviting all interested athletes to join the program.
For the past 11 years, DCBA has been dedicated to developing young talent on the island through high-level training led by experienced coaches, each specializing in different aspects of the game. The program provides an additional layer of training on top of what players receive from their own clubs — and participation is completely free of charge.
Over the years, DCBA has trained hundreds of young athletes. Some graduates have signed professional contracts, others have continued as student-athletes in the United States and the Netherlands, while many have strengthened their skills to become valuable players within their local teams.
The coaching staff is composed of well-known figures in local and international baseball, including program coordinator and head coach Ben Thijssen, along with Norval ‘Payo’ Faneyte, Lester Victoria, and Hershelon Juliana.
The new training season will begin on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, and sessions will take place every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Tio Daou Ballpark.
Young athletes between the ages of 12 and 17 who are already playing baseball and wish to sharpen their skills are welcome to participate. For more information, interested players or their parents can contact coach Ben Thijssen at +5999 515-1105 or via email at benthijssen44@hotmail.com.
