Work visit to the Netherlands related to various projects to improve public service quality

Local | By Press release August 24, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - Recently, the Minister of Governance, Planning, and Public Service of Curaçao (BPD), Mr. Ornelio "Kid" Martina, was on a work visit to the Netherlands. During his visit, he met with various governmental and semi-governmental entities on two main topics: "Service" and "Digitization."

Within the framework of the country package and VFO (Improving Government Functioning), Minister Martina has chosen two priority trajectories: internal and external service delivery (serving the community and serving internal clients) and also Digitization. These two major projects go hand in hand; one cannot proceed without the other. Minister Martina also exchanged ideas about government top management during these discussions.

During various meetings, including with VNG (Association of Dutch Municipalities), it was emphasized that they will work more intensively together to improve the quality of service to the community and to our internal civil servants. All of this in combination with digitization. Minister Martina visited the municipality of Amersfoort, which is willing to contribute to the exchange of knowledge. In this municipality, one could observe how their departments providing public service and internal service are functioning.

With this visit, Minister BPD has taken note of various ways to enhance functionality and has taken another step towards his goal of improving the quality of the public apparatus.
