WILLEMSTAD - A tourist was injured on Klein Curacao on Monday. The Maritime Operations Center received a report that a 56-year-old woman had fallen and sustained injuries to her head and arm, according to the Caribbean Coast Guard.
The report came from the captain of the charter boat that the tourist had sailed to Klein Curacao with. Despite the woman indicating that she could wait for medical assistance until they returned to Curacao, the Maritime Operations Center decided to contact the CITRO doctor.
After consulting with the boat's captain, the doctor decided that the patient needed to be transferred immediately to the Curacao Medical Center. The coast guard helicopter was deployed for this purpose. The patient was transported from Klein Curacao to Hato and then transferred by ambulance to the hospital in Otrobanda. There, the woman received the necessary medical care.
