"With the Lob Generator, requesting government information is easier"

Local | By Correspondent August 27, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - On the six Caribbean islands of the Kingdom, it has recently become easier for residents to request public information from the government that is typically not readily available. Caribisch Netwerk reports that there is now a Lob Generator for Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten, and a Wob BES Generator for Bonaire, Saba, and Sint Eustatius. These tools were developed by Aruban journalist Luis Anibal Villegas. The generators enable people to submit information requests more easily.

Such requests must meet certain conditions. According to the journalist, who is now studying law in the Netherlands, this is necessary because government agencies often lack data or fail to respond to journalists' inquiries. Villegas collaborated with SPOON, the expertise center for Woo researchers, on the project to create these generators. This initiative aims to make it easier for journalists, activists, researchers, and engaged citizens to submit information requests.
