Wintertuin Curaçao Festival contributes to community development

Local | By Correspondent September 23, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - Member of Parliament for the opposition party PAR, Steven Croes says in a press release that he was impressed by the level of multidisciplinary talent present during the evening.

The sixth edition of the Wintertuin Curaçao Festival was a resounding success, says the MP, featuring the presence of international talents combined with local multidisciplinary artists. A large audience gathered at Landhuis Vredenberg for the adult edition, following last week's children's edition, which Croes also attended.

Croes says he believes that the festival is a huge platform for literary and poetic talents to come together and showcase their work, but it also brings the local audience together to experience high-level performances, which contributes to their development.

For Croes, it was a source of pride to witness former Antillean Prime Minister and pillar of the PAR party, Etienne Ys, debut his first book titled “De Barmhartige Staat” (The Compassionate State). Ys was one of two notable authors presenting a new book to the market. Visitors were treated to various ‘Spoken Word’ performances and had the opportunity to connect with authors from across the Caribbean.

Croes says he hopes that the Wintertuin Curaçao Festival will continue to be held in the coming years and that the number of visitors will also continue to grow. Moreover, it is an artistic and cultural branch that can further elevate Curaçao on the international stage. Congratulations to the organizers for yet another successful edition!
