Wingo Resumes Flights to Curaçao and Aruba as Part of Summer Expansion

BOGOTÁ – Colombian low-cost airline Wingo has announced a major expansion of its international network this summer, with a strong focus on the Caribbean. Starting mid-June, Wingo will resume five previously suspended routes, including flights to Aruba and Curaçao from Bogotá, Medellín, and Cali.

The move comes in response to increased travel demand during the high season in June, July, and August. According to the airline, the summer expansion will add approximately 33,000 seats to its network, representing around 180 additional flights. This marks an 18% increase in Wingo’s international capacity for the season.

Caribbean Routes Return

The resumed flights will launch in phases between June 16 and 19, covering key Caribbean destinations such as Cancun (Mexico), Aruba, and Curaçao. The routes will depart from Colombia’s three major cities, offering more flexibility and travel options for holidaymakers.

This marks Wingo’s return to popular vacation routes that had been temporarily suspended. While the airline has not yet confirmed the exact days of operation for each flight, it emphasized that the added capacity is specifically designed to accommodate the expected surge in summer travel.

Focus on Peak Season Demand

The airline’s strategic expansion highlights its effort to strengthen its presence in the Caribbean and meet the high demand for leisure travel. The return of flights to Aruba and Curaçao is especially significant, given the strong tourism ties between Colombia and these Dutch Caribbean islands.

Travelers in both directions are expected to benefit from the renewed connectivity as Wingo positions itself as a key player in the regional aviation market during the peak season.
