Weto Neighborhood Team on the Brink of Historic Championship Win

WILLEMSTAD – The Weto neighborhood team is on the verge of making history in the ‘From Street to Stadium’ sports project organized by the Fundashon Bicentini. With just one more victory needed, Weto is within striking distance of claiming the championship title.

After a season marked by consistent wins, dedication, and a strong team spirit, the title seems closer than ever. According to project founder Remko Bicentini, the team has transformed into a tight-knit, well-organized group. “It’s one big family working toward gold. Everyone is giving their all, for each other and with each other. You can see it not only on the field but off it as well,” he said.

Weto has performed strongly from the very beginning, but what sets this season apart is their consistency. Their steady form has allowed them to outshine the other fourteen neighborhood teams competing across Curaçao.

Excitement is also building within the community. Home matches draw large crowds of local supporters who cheer the team on with chants and song. “Weto lives in the neighborhood,” said one proud fan. “We’re incredibly proud of this team and hope we’ll all be celebrating a championship together very soon.”

Still, head coach Joss remains cautious. “We’re not there yet. We need to stay focused, take it one game at a time. But belief is high.”

If Weto can maintain their momentum, the title is within reach — and in the neighborhood, the celebrations are already being quietly anticipated.
